The most recent Wait List was published by ICBF on November 23, 2009.
Once again, the ICBF Wait List applies to adoptions through ICBF only -- not through CASAS PRIVADAS. It also ONLY APPLIES TO NON COLOMBIAN FAMILIES.
It DOES NOT reflect special needs children. The definition of special needs are children with disabilities, children over 8 years of age, and sibling groups of 3 or more.
There also has been limited movement, all dates that have advanced I am putting in BOLD and RED. Also, this list only reflects that there are no more dossiers at the national office prior to the date shown. Dossiers from before Jan 2006 in the 0-23 months category, for example, may still need a referral, but they have already been sent to a region and are no longer at the national office.

Why do you think the wait lists aren't moving? Is it simply an issue of the requests for younger kids outnumbering the number of available younger kids?
I wonder what the average wait time for the children on the ICBF is (as opposed to the adoptive families). From their perspective, how long is it taking for them to be placed?
Are they always placed in the regions that they come from?
Children can be in ICBF care from 4 months to 18 years. The actual legal process itself is not long, but there are a number of efforts made to reunite children or find another family members that can adequately provide for the child/ren. This can take years -- just like here in the US.
As for the slow down, there has been an increase in applications by both Foreign and Colombian families. There was a big jump in 2008 when Guatemala closed.
